Different Ways to Find Happiness in Your Life

Almost everyone around you is seeking happiness. Everyone out there wants to be happy. Yet many people fail miserably in finding happiness for themselves. Why?

It is because your level of happiness depends largely on things you are willing to do to make yourself happier. While some may argue that happiness is determined by personality traits that tend to be hereditary in nature, a large part of your happiness is totally within your control. There are many things that you may do to feel a lot happier.

Different Ways to Find Happiness

1. Follow your goals actively

For those who are truly seeking happiness, it helps to start pursuing your goals actively. David Niven, the author of 100 Simple Secrets of the Best Half of Life, feels that people tend to be a lot more satisfied and as a result, feel positive after they are able to identify the goal they were pursuing.

2. Start celebrating what you have got

While the foremost thing to do is to identify the goal, you must also make it a habit to celebrate every milestone, little or big that gets you closer to your ultimate goal.

There is an important addition to be made to this point. That is, you must not compare where you are today with where you want to be too often. Instead, you should focus on comparing where you are now with where you were a few days before. This attitude promises chunks of fulfillment and a lot of things for you to feel thankful for.

3. The act of giving makes you a happier person

Having written tonnes of self- improvement articles on this blog, I often get messages from a bunch of my faithful readers. A majority of my readers have indeed one common thing to share:

“The act of giving has helped us found the amazing amount of happiness in life. One thing we have realized in life is that giving can be actually more beneficial for the giver than the receiver.”

4. You have nothing to lose in the race of life

While the act of giving makes you happier, it makes you even happier and contented to know you have nothing to lose. In the words of Steve Jobs:

“Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.”

Finally, small things like making real friends both outside of work and at work; actively expressing thankfulness; doing things you excel go a long way in helping you become a significantly happier and less depressed person.
