There is a nip in the air and festivities all around. Like many others, it is my favorite time of the year.
The bright lights, romantic flowers, vibrant colors, happy faces- there is a lot to rejoice!
For the last few days, I am under the spell of the festive season and thus, my post, today, is going to revolve all around nothing else but festivities.
Late nights and hectic days make me wonder- is it that too many things happening at one time (shopping, parties, rituals and of course, work) add to the levels of excitement. This could very well be one of the reasons but something that excites me more is certainly a feeling of connectivity and the sense of belonging that people feel with each other at the time of festivities.
Reasons to Celebrate Festivities
Considering the importance of festivals in our lives; it’s difficult to imagine living a life without these months, weeks and days full of positivity, zeal and enthusiasm. Such days don’t only break the monotony of life but also give numerous reasons to rejoice life. And a few more reasons for which I feel these festivals are an integral part of our lives and must be celebrated with gusto are:
- They make you closer to your family traditions and rituals. Not that I find myself rigid when it comes to performing any of the rituals, it’s just that I like following them. For me, it’s like carrying on the family legacy forward. And why not follow them if they don’t challenge your beliefs or harm your thoughts in any manner?
- This indeed is the time of the year when most of your near and dear ones living far-off in distant lands think about visiting you. 4 AM coffees are to die for with your friends amidst all the cheer and laughter. And, a few weeks of cards sittings are a refreshing change giving you a chance to try your luck with something different than your routine work.
- Another reason I love celebrating festivals (something very similar to what I mentioned before on one of my Instagram posts) is that some of them reinforce my faith in doing good and performing my duties. They remind me that every right implies a responsibility; every opportunity, an obligation; every possession, a duty.

There must be several more reasons as to why each one of you loves celebrating festivities. Whatever the reason/s might be, I pray that the glow of joy, prosperity and happiness illuminates your life and we all continue getting together to celebrate, enjoy good times and share our joy with each other. Wishing you all a very Happy and Prosperous Diwali 2018!
